My stay at the Ritz Carlton exceeded my expectations and left me pleasantly surprised. Contrary to reviews I had read on travel sites elsewhere, there is little I would criticise about this hotel. My room was very clean and contemporary in decor, while the bathroom was of a very high standard. The furniture showed signs of ageing but overall, I was very happy with the room.
The staff were excellent. Attentive, helpful and very polite which only served to enhance the holiday experience. The gym was well equipped(and rarely used), which was perfect for a workout at any time of the day. I think the hotel attracted a more mature and mixed demographic, which included retirees, a few families with young (but not too noisy kids), and couples in their late 30s-40s. That might have something to do with choosing to travel outside of school half-term. It was also devoid of a youngish crowd (20-36 year-olds), so there wasn't the rowdy element you can get at some locations. For someone looking for a pleasant and quiet holiday it was perfect.
The local high street/shopping centre is called il Mercato, comprising restaurants and a few shops to cater to the tourist. However, I found it lacking in any atmosphere, charm or character. Although, it does appear to still be under development with a lot of vacant shop units. If you are looking for somewhere more lively to spend the day/evening you'll need to venture into "Soho".
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would visit again
