We want to stay here again.
We loved our stay in Room 4. Extremely comfortable and spacious room. Had everything we needed - kettle, Nespresso machine, hairdryer, iron etc.. 4 USB sockets around the bed for charging of devices. They are low key with their housemaid service which suited us, but if you ask for it, they provide. Good bed. Shower was strong and did put water a bit over onto the bathroom floor. Just needed a bit of moving of the shower head and of the bath mat to resolve. Stairs were a struggle with the suitcases and WiFi was not good but we had data on our phones so this was not really a problem. Good choice of tv stations. Noise from the pub downstairs or from was not a problem. We asked and received a bucket of ice every night for drinks in the room. Bar staff were extremely accommodating. That reminds me that check-in is at the bar as you walk into the pub. Then you come out of the pub and the entrance to the rooms is off the high street to the left of the pub main entrance. Great location in Exeter for seeing the sights, shopping and restaurants. Pretty level unless you’re going down Fore Street! Without a doubt, would definitely stay there again.

Great find in the centre of Exeter. We loved the room and the pub downstairs. The bed was a little on the small side but room was cosy and quiet considering it’s in a pub!

6/10 Good

Lovely room at a high price with no sleep attached
Hardly slept a wink. Having read reviews about not staying in the cheaper rooms above the pub we stumped up the extra to get a Comfy Room. But the noise from the High Street was insane. All night. The rooms are hot so you have to open the windows, but drunken singing, bottles smashing, general high jinks shouting were unbearable. So we closed the windows to slowly par boil until the road sweepers and cleaners arrive at dawn, followed by trucks delivering to the shops, followed by another street cleaner lorry, and general bustle of a city high street coming to life before you should be awake. It's unfortunate as the room is lovely and comfortable. There is no staff support. It isn't a hotel. It is, by definition a room above a pub. The 'manager' or person in charge was pretty grumpy about having to check you in while dealing with bar customers. All of this is largely unavoidable and as long as your expectations are focussed on staying at a pub, with minimal service, and you're a good/heavy sleeper then this place is excellent, I'd recommend it. But if you want a hotel-like experience at the hotel rates you'll be paying then forget about it. This is about as far from that as you can imagine. We passed another guest on the stairs as they checked in and left within an hour. It can be that bad if you want more and at the room prices, you should get more. Parking is also a problem but that's not the Turks' fault. A lovely room at a high price with no sleep attached.

Loved the location, the building is quite old so has some interesting quirks (floors not level), but our room was overall quite comfortable.

Great location right in the thick of things around the corner from Exeter Cathedral. The lack of an elevator and the narrow stairs meant that one of us with mobility issues left a heavier bag downstairs. The late 10 am breakfast resulted in a later than expected start for the day.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely, cosy room with everything we needed (coffee machine with capsule (refill available), lots of tea options, lovely decaf coffee bags, kettle etc. It is nice historic building. The rooms are beautifully done. They are directly above the associated pub so expect some noises (especially If you are there at the weekend). Eye masks and earplugs are provided in the room 👍 The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was good with powerful, hot shower and good ventilation. A great location. After exploring sunny Exeter we had a refreshing non alcoholic “Old Mount Cider” in the pub.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent- friendly and helpful. The property is old and quaint - not suitable for anyone with mobility problems as there are no lifts and the stairs are narrow, uneven in part. We stayed over a bank holiday weekend and our room overlooked the high street- it was very noisy till about 4 am one morning. The hotel provided ear plugs for such occasions!

Have been here several times over the years for food and drink but this was the first time we stayed. Small rooms but comfortable and have everything you need. Staff exceptional. It’s a city pub so expect noise, unless you have a couple of the really nice ales before you go to bed.
