hotel staff very friendly. Unless you have a car you have to take a taxi to go to any other restaurant but the small one on the property which is o.k. but nothing special. Rooms are very large .and all face the ocean. Nice beach. We stayed here the day before our cruise and it just a short cab ride down to the cruise terminal. We would stay here again

The hotel is older, but if you like to relax it's the place to be. They have some activities planned if you want to partake or you can go on your own. The activities director has a list of the recommended places to fulfill your wishes. There are boat trips, plane trips, shopping trips and trips to other islands. We enjoyed a trip to Pinel Island for the day, shopping in Phillipsburg, renting a car makes getting around easy (but the drivers and parking are crazy). The French side of island is also to be enjoyed (just have to remember that some of the shops there close at 2:00 and open again about 4:00). The food is great allover the island.

The room was very comfortable and the hotel staff was very attentive. Prices at the mini mart were reasonable and the resturant Gingerbread and Rufus the manager was excellent. Security was excellent as was the beach. The beach maintained every day by Vincent with attention to seating, umbrellas and towels. It may not be the most modern hotel on the beach but just as comfortable as any others. We would stay there again. WiFi should be included for as much as you need it..

Couldn't wait to leave this place and will never go back. Do NOT believe the three and four star rating. Expedia's rating on this hotel could not have been more misleading and erroneous. Dirty, smelly and old. YUCKO

Very clean, wish we could have stayed more than one night! Staff was awesone, kept our luggage while we shopped before traveling to Anguilla. We will stay again for a few days before our departure to Anguilla, great rooms, clean and quiet! Thank you!

I was startled to see posted a couple less than great reviews, so I am motivated to respond with our experience of 20 years at the Belair. We became timeshare owners after our first visit, and have found the Belair over these many years to be wonderful, friendly, responsive, unpretentious, with low staff turnover (you know that means good management). It was great when our kids were with us, and now in our retirement with friends. Probably the most knowledgable activities advisor and best beach on the island. EVERY room has a great beach view as they all have balconies onto the beach; we cook in most of the time and the kitchen works great for us. We arrive, pick a spot on the beach and our chaises are labeled w/our names for the duration of our stay...always available and shaded by umbrellas. From the Belair, you can walk into Phillipsburg or stroll to the top of the peninsula that separates Belair on Little Bay from Phillipsburg.. and view Great Bay Harbor from the old Fort at the top. You'd have to have a pretty negative, entitled attitude not to enjoy this resort

Have been going to Sint Maarten for 7 years now. Stayed at a few places, next door at Divi twice. Last year, Divi changed exchange rules.Would not let us exchange.(3-5 yr rule?) We loved that area/the employees at Divi.Knew Belair was next door. I was very tentative about how our unit at Belair was going to compare. I can now tell you-I have already booked my exchange for this year back at Belair!! The fact that all unit are RIGHT ON THE BEACH is great. Even if you don't like being in the water, you can still enjoy it. The units may not be as updated as some, but very comfortable and clean. Staff friendly. Not bothered with sales. Was so comfortable and relaxing. We were still able to walk to Divi and visit friends staying there, but all ended up back at our place at Belair after dinner or bars closed due to our unit being directly on the beach. If you are looking for 5 star - don't stay here. Those of us that do stay here don't want you to... If you want a laid back vacation with no pressures from sales or staff, this is a great place to get away!! The lack of "attitude", (which attitude can be so prevalent at some resorts) is refreshing.

The room had many flying bugs. There was no internet available 4 days of the 8 days we stayed. It is not convenient for shopping. The beach was good and the view was nice.
