Travelodge by Wyndham Winnipeg East

As hotels go, this one checks all the boxes for cleanliness, location, pool/atrium, comfortable beds, etc. But what really sets it apart is the staff!! ALL of them were super friendly, professional and were more than happy to go the extra mile to meet your needs. I can’t thank them enough for making my stay an awesome experience all around!

My daughter and I felt uncomfortable in the part of town the hotel is located in. There were a lot of random people walking around the parking lot. The room seemed updated but not as clean as most hotels in the chain.

A strange woman knocked on our hotel room door along with all other doors down the hallway multiple times between 2AM and 5 AM. Apparently on drugs, lost and unable to find her own room. Front desk didn’t answer my phone calls so I had to call police who finally came and removed her from our hallway. At checkout, no apology or explanation, just an insinuation that I was wrong to call police.

Badly needs a renovation. It’s old and tired. Swimming pool lights don’t come on until much later which looks terrible. A night worker passed the lobby and bar looking for customers.

We really enjoy the pool area. We got in pretty late, and the pool/hot tub were closing in just 20 minutes. We quickly changed and hopped in. The evening manager came by when we were just getting out and allowed us another 30 minutes to enjoy the pool. We were impressed. The rooms are clean and comfy. The hotel itself seems old, but everything works. We were in a second floor pool side room, which led out to a balcony. In the morning, we could hear outside noises (like a garbage truck backing up and clanging around). I'm positive I was smelling someone smoking not far from our balcony door, but for the great price we got, it wasn't a deal breaker. We'll be back.

So here’s the thing - I was travelling across Canada with my wife and dog and I didn’t expect anything spectacular for a “stay the night” hotel. Still, I didn’t expect the disaster that was this Travelodge hotel. It was dirty and dingy and I was pretty sure that someone was turning tricks in there. After I checked in, I was understandably appalled, so I left for a couple of hours to find another hotel. While doing so, I had to leave my dog there. In that time, I felt bad that she had to be for any length of time. I found another hotel and got the hell out out of there. I wasn’t given a refund, nor did I ask for one because I honestly didn’t mind parting with the money, having found a way better place to stay, and in all honesty, you couldn’t pay me enough to stay there. I don’t have any other experience with any other Travelodge Hotels, but I can only hope they’re better than this one. Then again, how could they not be? And I will add that I never write reviews, good or bad, but my experience with this one compelled me to do so. Just awful!!
