Hotel Santa Marina

Cannot praise my stay here enough. Amazing staff at the reception who were friendly and welcoming, even going as far as having our rooms shown to us and our bags bought up to us! Sadly didn’t have breakfast, but this was included in the stay. Room was very clean, comfy and a nice place to stay.

We booked the hotel in advance. Two days before, I had a text from my bank saying that someone in Italy was trying to use my card so we were wary. A few hours later, I had message from the hotel in Italian that I could not read. After getting it translated it was about payment. I messaged Santa Marina back to say that is fine, I will tell my bank to accept payment. I did not hear back from them. I also had two missed calls from an Italian number which I tried to look and compare with hotel numbers but none matched. They called for a split second, not enough time to answer. Anyway it was time to go to Hotel Santa Marina. We got there, the staff did not even say hello, they just look at you. They told me they gave my room away, despite messaging them back. I also found out the calls were from them, who did not give me enough time to answer or call me on the number matching the hotel. They said we have a spare room still so I shrugged it off, so we made sure payment went through and we were shown to our change of room. We got taken to a building outside of hotel. This room was not great. It did not feel safe as the room was not in hotel and old lock thinking someone could break in. It smelt damp like no one had been there for ages and material was stapled to wall falling off. Next morning we had breakfast, inside the hotel was much nicer than our room, the noise every morning was awful starting before 7am where the room was next to a delivery area. The bed was uncomfortable too.

Hotel in lovely quiet position walkable to all places. Decor venetian and in good condition. Room quite small and unfortunately we could here voices water etc from our next door rooms shower! Breakfast busy and good range of pastries etc . But only 1 coffee machine with queues. Overall good but for the price I was a little disappointed.

Good location only 10 minutes walk from riverbus stop at Rialto Bridge. Easy to walk to all the main visiting sites including St Marks Square. Clean & tidy hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast was very Italian, with lots of sweet cakes, biscuits and pastries. A small cold meat & cheese selection as well

Perfect base for exploring Venice, Really welcoming hotel, with clean and comfortable rooms. On arrival and being showed to our room, we were a little worried as the porter took us up and down and around various stairs and corridors, bit we need not have any concern as our room had a side door entrance straight out onto the street. Little extras such as complimentary slippers just added to the overall stay.

We have stayed at this property several times over the years. This time the room was not clean. The breakfast was sub par: machine coffee, only cold milk available, cold packaged pastries. Even though the staff was very pleasant, this hotel was very disappointing. We will not return.

Friendly staff, handy location in an interesting part of town

The hotel is hard to find from any of the water boat stops, I didn’t care for the decor, it seems old and in need of a makeover. The breakfast is awful, same food everyday, lots of cookies for breakfast, they have a machine that makes small pancakes and another machine that makes disgusting eggs. They did have cheese, and cold cuts, croissants and toast. They have a coffee, cappuccino machine. The staff is not friendly. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. On a positive note there is a bakery and grocery store across the courtyard. Small rooms with very few plugs. Good size bathroom horrible shower.
