Motel 6 Owatonna, MN - Near Medical Center

If your perception of Motel 6 is that the rooms are small and uncomfortable and service is spotty, it's clear you've never stayed at the one in Owatonna, MN. This was formerly a Holiday Inn and is now one of the plushest, spacious and surprisingly affordable units in the Motel 6 lineup. The king bed was roomy and comfortable, there was a mini-fridge in my room and the TV was reliable and easy to use (for those interested, it has most Twin Cities stations plus the NBC, ABC and PBS stations from Rochester/Austin MN). There are three or four floors and a restaurant connected to it, but the restaurant was closed when I was there (Covid 19, U know). They do have some good restaurants nearby including a steakhouse, and if you can't go to a restaurant to eat breakfast the next day, do what I did--go to the Kwik Trip gas station nearby, pick up small bottles of milk and OJ, a package or two of coffee cakes or mini-donuts and a disposable sealed single bowl of cereal, along with a plastic spoon, and bring them back to the room and store the perishables in the mini-fridge. Overall, a great place that deserves a return stay if I go there again.

Got putnin 3 different rooms, all were used. The 4th one was made up but only had one towel in room...

This Motel 6 used to be a Holiday Inn and waterpark. At one time it was the first and only one in Minnesota, 2001. It was poorly managed and the property was never really updated. Motel 6 has just taken it over and our offering very low rates during the transition. The property is clean, and staff was friendly, its worth staying for a night or two. Cause of covid no waterpark, or breakfasts. I'm willing to pass on those for a very low rate for a comfortable room.

Affordable, staff is great, it super clean, perfect location for a place to stay if ur working in the cities and close to any store u would need to go to.

The absolute worst customer service experience I’ve ever had! The hotel is ok, but the staff are absolutely horrible.

Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Close to restaurants. This would be a great place to stay again post-Covid when everything is open

Run down hotel. Hot tub has been broken for months. Pool dirty and dark. Lots of drinking in lobby and pool area. Alot of drunken people in pool. Pool closed next day due to "accident" in pool. Very small inadequate room. Food at restaurant next door was horrible. When i mentioned my concerns to manager- Amy, she never apologized, made excuses and hung up on me.

The hotel was ok. The hot tub was not sorking. Front desk area heat was not working. Our room was ok.

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The first room I tried checking into didn’t have a functioning lock. After 20 minutes, was given a different room. During showers the drain was clearly plugged turning it into bath within 2 minutes. The restaurant is a joke. We ordered pizzas and burgers for dinner one evening, took the better part of two hours. Breakfast the next morning ran out of food and clean plates. The entire wait staff had zero sense of urgency and just acted like this kind of service was normal without any communication or alternatives. To top it off, had the enjoyment of being woke up to a fire alarm at 4a on Saturday with an actual fire in the laundry room. Don’t worry, the staff had ran out of the building and one of the dads from our hockey team who is a firefighter put it out. Overall cleanliness was clearly lacking throughout the facility. The parking lot had at least 4” of snow remaining - clearly they had given up in trying to keep the sidewalks clear and safe. Anyone at Holiday Inn corporate would shut this place down. Not worth the water park if every other experience within the hotel was horrific.
