I have been staying at the Gateway since my college days in the 1970s. It is always my first choice of accommodations when visiting Ames. The staff is super professional, the rooms are great, and the amenities are wonderful. It is close to campus and beautifully maintained. Can’t recommend enough!!

Staff was great! Hotel rooms were very clean and nice! The main lounge area in lobby was less to be desired between bugs and moldy ceiling tiles. Overall great stay!

It is my first time staying at this hotel. It was a very nice place to stay, room are clean and nice. Will be back in the future.😊

6/10 Good

The hotel itself was clean and very nice. The room had a musty smell as soon as you walked in. There weren’t enough outlets especially by the beds to plug anything in. You get a voucher for breakfast for 1 person regardless of the number staying in your room. It was a perfect location for a visit to Iowa State.

Large, clean rooms. Good value for the money (at least when we stayed). Convenient location if visiting Iowa State University. We have no complaints and would happily stay here again.

It is a great location and friendly staff. The beds were so hard and they used very strong air freshener that was overpowering.

8/10 Very good

An okay place to stay. Rooms were large and over all remodel is done well. Crumbs were noted on the floor and some dirty walls in the bathroom. Barely any coffee or tea, no hot chocolate in the lobby in the AM. Staff was friendly on check in. Would stay again.

Great staff, welcoming. Rooms are clean and solid. Doors for the bathroom are the barn-door thing which has become popular for some unknown reason. Lots of parking. Great location just off campus. Big lobby if you need to do work. Restaurant and bar as well.

Clean accommodations, conveniently close to Iowa State University and stadium. Seems well maintained, though one of the elevators is out and the other is slow. Breakfast was great and wait staff in restaurant super friendly.
