The Grand Hotel

The pool is really nice, enjoyed our stay so much. We booked a Mountain View room which located on 8/F, which has a great view. Friendly and helpful staffs, breakfast charged 500NT, is okay. They provided shuttle bus service to the mrt station, very handy.

The Grand Hotel is an amazing, historic place to stay, and the value was excellent. Although the rooms aren’t “brand new” like some hotels in Taipei, it is worth a visit. The balconies and artwork in the rooms are amazing. I was curious, however, as to why the English website did not list the Family Mart or ice cream/coffee/beer cafe in the original wing of the hotel.

I enjoyed staying there very much. It is a paradise close to Taipei. It is strategically located up to a hill, so you can easily and comfortably enjoy an overview of the city, in particular at night. I picked up the hotel for its swimming pool. I feel very satisfactory for the excellent maintenance. The water of the swimming pool is crystal clear without the smell of disinfectant. I swam more than 1500 meters everyday for three consecutive days, enjoying the view of Chinese architecture, green mountains and blue sky while listening to bird talks and frog songs.

I think the room could’ve used more decoration and color so as not to look as dated as it is. Please provide a guided tour in English for tourists. Stay here for it’s historical significance, not so much the comfort.

Its “grand” only when you at least 300 meters away from this hotel. Closer you come, less “grand” it will be. Nightmares will start directly in the lobby and will follow up you all the way of your stay. Rooms are not clean, my shower was full of woman’s hair. And this is during the virus time in Asia. all rooms should be disinfected, but here even not clean. So it’s not safe to stay here. Next unpleasant experience is Chinese restaurant: they tried to cheat me for few hundreds. Last but not least, to use hotel facilities (sauna, steam room) you have to pay. After all this experiences the duty manager even not said sorry at all.

Excellent hotel, good helpful staff, spacious room with great view of Taipei. Definitely will come back again next time I am in Taipei.
