Potential to be Great
The hotel was good. The location and property size is very good along with the service team. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. There are a few things that made the stay less great, like the motion sensing light in the bathroom. The lights would go off numerous times while in the shower, thus you have to step out mid-shower to reactivate the light. It’s a huge annoyance, but also a safety issue, especially with young kids. Also, the restaurant being closed during the busiest week in Truckee created a lot of extra stress in finding places to eat for dinner.

Great place to stay ! Will definitely be back. Just a quick drive to downtown Truckee. The bed is so comfortable. Words directly from my husband, best shower ever ! The customer service is amazing. We had issues trying to connect the TV to mirror from phone & the staff was up there fixing it immediately ! Thank you !

Great place to stay. Staff is always helpful and knowledgeable of the area. No frills-modern mountain style accommodation that is really convenient to town and highways.

stayed over for 1 night. breakfast was our main reason for picking this location as we were on the way to Reno. Unfortunately, it was not available. Not a real problem since the drive into town was short.

Wonderful hotel, this was our 2nd stay while on business. Will be here again for a full week next month and looking forward to staying at this place. Its rustic charm is very relaxing at the end of a full day of work and business.

2/10 Poor

Honest pet lovers, beware, this place will tell you to hit the road if don't pay extra; $200 in my case, for a "pet friendly room" plus excessive $50 per pet "fee". This is buried in one of the many papers, “ads” they send you. This tactic is close to what I consider "bait and switch" and "highway robbery". After a long drive, haggling, begging for mercy and finally folding with the front desk, I got treated to a cold shower! Front desk failed to disclose hidden button on shower for hot water, which was limited. Manager works wannabe hours and is not helpful. Nice grounds and room with comfy bed, but just remember pet lovers, it will cost you, over double in my case of what my paid reservation was. This could be a great place if they played fair. Unfortunately, they tempt honest pet lovers to be dishonest or to stay elsewhere.

Unusually cool hotel and staff
What a great little hotel. Super helpful staff, I showed up 2 or 3 hours early, they were good with allowing me to take out one of their cruiser bicycles before check in. Since I came from the Amtrak station and didn't have a car, this allowed me to easily head back to downtown Truckee for a nice lunch as well as cruise local bike trails along the river. Also, my cell phone had broken down the previous day, and they were great with allowing me to call home from the main switchboard. This place is big with backpackers and other back country explorers, so they have all kinds of hydration supplements and things like that for guests, no extra charge. Also It's a walkable 1.2 miles from the Amtrak station along a protected bike path with good sidewalks all the way there, And so I hiked to and from a great dinner downtown and this was fun way to work off the calories, and this proximity, close enough, but not yoo close to I80 and the train tracks, made it practical to skip the usual driving to Truckee ftom the Bay. Taking the train instead was a very good move when you stay here, at least in the warmer months.
