We were very excited for our stay at The River Lee Hotel, but ultimately ended up rather disappointed. Upon check-in, we were told a King room with a view was not available, which was disappointing seeing how far in advance we booked. Plus, we were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. To make up for a room with no view, we were offered access to the Executive's Lounge "offering free food and drinks". We were disheartened when we realized that essentially just meant water, juice, and cold fruit. In addition, once we got to our room, we realized we were given a handicap accessible room, which was not mentioned at check-in. Because of this the bathroom had a very hard to walk on floor and due to the handicap shower, the entire bathroom floor got soaked when one of us showered, which was not ideal. The outlets were also all low to ground due to a handicap room—I had to sit on the floor in between the bed and wall just to dry my hair. This all paired with a view of a wall was a very big let down since we intentionally booked this hotel based on how beautiful it looked and the views it promoted. Additionally, the beds were rather uncomfortable with very flat pillows. The rooms themselves felt extremely outdated in comparison to the design of the rest of the hotel.
The restaurant, however, was truly beautiful and the views from it were terrific—so that was definitely an upside.
