Cavalieri's Grand

The location is great, but then problems arise. There are no staff on duty and so you have first to register and then get entry codes online. One code is to enter the building. The other is to punch in on the doorway of the guest house in the dingy and very dark second floor. This then opens both the door to let you in and at the same time unlocks the door to your bedroom. When I arrived for a single night at the start of my short Italian trip, I met the owner. He told me I would have no problem leaving my small bag whilst I went sightseeing the next day. My code would still work in the afternoon. It didn't! I ended up having to make an expensive phone call to get a new code. The trouble started before then, A simple breakfast is provided in a cafe across the road. When I returned, I left my bag in the bedroom as instructed. But the front door would not open.I tried at least 6 times. I was completely stuck! No way out and no way back to the bedroom. After 20 long minutes, a maid finally arrived. On my return 5 days later, the internet did not work properly. When I was ready to take a shower, the water was completely cold. Someone had forgotten to switch on the water heater! Add in the noise of the traffic on the main road outside and I cannot recommend this property.

Very central with lots of restaurants and cafes. A little confusing in getting into building.

More of an apartment than a hotel

Pls note- no front desk. Need to prearrange arrival time. Only one of 4 rooms appeared to have an in suite bathroom. Other rooms appeared to have an external bathroom.

The size of my room was very large. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The location was perfect. I did get a little confused with google maps navigation there but it was all very easy once I worked it out. The apartment itself is very secure. I love the code lock idea. Thanks for a great stay. It would be great to have a breakfast alternative to croissants though - I am not sure my jeans fit very well after 2 weeks of these haha

First, the room looks NOTHING like the photo. Second, I rented a room with a private bathroom - NOT SO. The bathroom was outside of my bedroom, ten steps away, through a public area and required me to use a separate key. This is NOT a private bathroom. A private bathroom is ensuite. I am old. I have to get up in the night often (ten times in my two nights there) to use the bathroom. Had to put on pants and go through open area. I should be fully refunded as I did NOT get what I paid for.

Not sure that it falls within 4 star, definitely 3 star. Rooms very basic, noisy due to main street into square. Great location to everything! Continental (bread, coffee, water) breakfast voucher to bar across the street is given. Host was helpful bur was only around physically at check-in.

I missed the regular contact to hotel-reception. Saw staff only on checkin & checkout. No cleaning of our room during our stay, only change of towels. Location very central. No refrigerator, which would be needed soon. Tap water not drinkable. By easy mistake bought 2 expensive return fast train tickets to Firenze.
