This was my second visit to this hotel, it is so relaxing and quiet being a short distance from the main road but in countryside.
The staff are warm and friendly, the food I had in the bar area after a day at the zoo was delicious, as was the breakfast the following morning. I found the options that were included in the price ( a good continental selection and various choices such as bacon with preferred cooking of eggs) more than sufficient, there are further items eg full English for a supplement.
The spa is nice with large swimming pool, sauna , steam room and surrounded by plenty of cushioned egg chairs and beds. I had a massage and hour or so after breakfast, it was divine.
I finished my stay with a walk around the stunning gardens - the weather was sunny, the lawn and woodland areas would be a little boggy after more than the re entrance rain so take suitable footwear for this.
Only a couple of minus points- although my room was gorgeous as was the garden view from it, it was ground floor and had patio doors opening out to a table and chairs outside- it isn't private, anyone outside could see straight into it, the path goes past it and a dog walker strolled by ( residents I should add, as dogs are allowed). So you need to keep the curtains closed for privacy.
The other I mentioned after my first visit, namely that the whirlpool in the spa is an extension of the pool hence the water isn't warmer, not a major factor but one some might be disappointed with.
Will return.
