I expected much more for the money paid. The room was very cold on entry, with the only heating provided by an ugly and initially noisy portable oil radiator. Although the pictures look great, the fact is that the buildings are very poorly constructed, with no soundproofing in the Lodges. When people walk anywhere, the room rattles and shakes, and I was woken repeatedly during the night with bangs and crashes, plus, at one point after midnight, dogs barking. A quiet, peaceful retreat, this is not. The 'woodland view' consisted of a depth of three trees before the road about 20 yards away. The rooms have no entertainment system whatever, no telly or radio, probably because the walls are so thin.
On the plus side, the bed is comfy, everybody seemed very friendly, and the service was good. It is in a beautiful spot if you overlook the golf course rather than the road. Breakfast service was very good but didn't start until 8.30am.
