Oak House was actually closed for refurbishment and management didn't have the decency to advise me despite having made an advance reservation for the Honeymoon Suite for several months!
Additionally I called before making the 2 hour journey to get confirmation of secure parking and STILL was not advised that Oak House was closed for refurbishment!
I arrived at Oak House and was unable to gain entry and the telephone number on which I had earlier in that day spoken to someone was now not being answered. Eventually some domestic staff appeared from an out building and explained that the place was closed for refurbishment.
I was offered alternative accommodation at Acorn Guest House approx 750m away which is said to be owned / managed by the same people. The room was sub-standard, stains in the bath, 2 single beds, huge gap under the door and felt distinctly lacking in security! No staff, security or any other guests were staying there! A stark contrast to the Honey Moon Suite pictures of Oak House which I had booked.
Considering everything we left immediately and returned back to Johannesburg south which is a 2 hour drive away.
Valentines weekend was ruined and the management did not answer any calls or return messages!
