I got a great deal on a same day booking, so my stay was good value. I had room 18 with its door next to some of the hotels parking which was very convenient. Where the reception was, was not immediately evident, however checking in was seamless, the info given backed up by the room folder. The room itself was clean and had 2 armchairs and a large double bed. There was a kitchenette just inside the entrance door with a fridge and ceramic hob, kettle with tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits and the necessary for self catering. The shower room was spacious, the detailing around the shower base was not good and the water flow from the shower head slightly disappointing. Breakfast was well presented, the hot cooked to order and sideboards with a good selection of teas, fresh filter coffee, cereals, bread croissants and fruit. The information sheet on the hotel and Spalding's history was interesting and the lounge where I had a drink before turning in, having eaten out up the road was very peaceful. I happened to see this hotel yesterday on 4 in a bed, I had a comfy and peaceful night's sleep, unconcerned by any traffic noise. Spalding itself was very Christmassy and the few minutes of walking alongside the river to get to the town centre was very enjoyable, the individual properties efforts providing an atmosphere of bygone days.
