When we tried to check in the hotel owner wanted us to cancel the reservation to get the money refunded, and pay in cash instead. He claimed he never got payed by hotels.com or its affiliated sites. It was very uncomfortable and we felt very pressured in the moment. - when we stayed firm on that ether we stay with the original payment via hotels.com or we find suitable accommodation elsewhere his attitude changed and he would “let us stay the night and figure it out the next day.” After getting to our room we contacted hotels.com support who contacted the hotel directly to fix the “accounting issue”. We never heard from the hotel owner for the reminder of the stay, and checked out with no hassle.
the hotel itself is quite central, not too far walk from king street. The rooms were clean and the standard was all right. There were some small issues here and there that needed maintenance like a bathroom fan that made a very unpleasant screaming noise when on. The tv only had Hungarian channels.
