Villa Misk scared us when we first got there. It looks very unfinished, and is a project under construction, and the road outside is a mud road, at least when we got there in Feb 2025. But the host, Ahmed, has an American accent and is very friendly and hospitable, as is his family. The room we had was spacious, with an amazing view of lake Nasser, the motorboats in the lake, and the Island of the temple of Isis. The breakfast was authentic Egyptian, but for me personally, it was passable. There is very little around the Villa itself in terms of shopping and restaurants, but the host set us up with a reasonably priced driver that made us feel less stuck. Uber does not work in Aswan, so you need a driver, or the taxis will rip you off. The host also set us up with a motorboat on the evening we arrived, and we saw lake Nasser, the Nubian island of Heissa, and the temple of Isis at night.
