It appears that the Maison St. Charles has changed management and ownership since our last visit. A few things have slipped since the last visit: the elevator in our building was broken for nearly 24 hours and had loose panels on the wall, the beds were ridiculously high, the heater either blew very hot air or very cold air, the shower was not clean, the sink did not have a stopper, there were no privacy shades so people outside could see in the room, asked for towels that were never brought, and cups for the bathroom were never replaced. Also, the new look of the rooms is very contemporary and not in keeping with the age of the hotel, just made it seem very generic. Some positives were their willingness to make a room reservation change on the day of arrival and they were willing to hold our bags for a few hours before check-in and a few hours after checkout with no charge. The room was reasonably clean. While the location along the St. Charles streetcar line is still very convenient, we'll be looking for a different hotel for the next time we travel to New Orleans.
